Studio or remote: where should your live hosts stream from?

There are two ways to run live hosts who aren't your own staff. They come to you and stream from your studio with the full range in hand, or you ship them a sample box and they stream from home. Both work. They suit different brands.

In your studio

Best for: wide ranges, high-value stock, products that need demonstrating with the real thing, and brands that already have a set and a producer.

Upsides. Every product is on the table. Your team can swap stock live, hand over a new colour, react to what the chat asks for. Lighting and sound are consistent. Your branding is in shot.

Downsides. Hosts have to be near you, which shrinks the pool and takes longer to cast. You're paying for travel time. If your studio is a corner of the stockroom, the host's home setup might honestly look better.

From the host's home

Best for: compact ranges, consumables and beauty, brands anywhere in the UK, and getting started fast.

Upsides. Any host in the country. Faster to start, usually within days. Lower cost, because there's no travel and the host is already set up. Hosts who stream from home a lot tend to have a well-practised setup.

Downsides. They only have what you shipped. Sample boxes need planning and restocking. Background and lighting vary between hosts, so you need to check their setup before the first stream. Returns of samples need agreeing up front.

How we decide with brands

At Hosts for Hire we ask three questions. Does the product need to be handled to sell, or does a sample do the job? Is there a good studio with someone to produce in it? How quickly do you want to start? Studio is priced higher because sourcing hosts near you takes real work, and we only recommend it when the answers point that way. Plenty of brands run both: a flagship studio stream on Saturday with the founder, and remote hosts covering weekday evenings.

Either way

Streams run on your TikTok Shop account, with a run-sheet agreed in advance and a producer on the line. The host's location changes the logistics, not the standard.
